About me
(and why do I film wedding documentaries)
This is the reason why I shoot weddings!
When my parents got married in 1977, they didn’t hire a wedding filmmaker, just a photographer. During my childhood I developed a real interest in films. I was drawn to watching how things were made, all those extra footage that came in old VHS tapes were my starting point.
Mom always told be about their wedding day. She told me that during the morning, her makeup and hairstyle was done by her best friend, while my grandparents drank coffee at the kitchen table. She told me about the smell of her flowers, the coffee, and the house cat that came up to the small turntable in her room playing the Barbara Streisand “Classical” record. Outside the window, birds would fly near for a few seconds and when they saw the cat, they flew back again. Later in the evening, during their photoshoot, they were interrupted by heavy rain (those are the best photos) and during dinner at the reception hall, a close friend of them improvised a song on the piano. My dad often remembers one of his friends saying that their wedding was “Spectacular!”
When they both told me all about their special day, I try to imagine, how would I have filmed it.
Memories are so important to treasure as a visual legacy for future generations. Believe me, one day in the someone will ask for your film. This is something that goes through my mind at every wedding. We have an opportunity to discover something different, and I am fearless in letting you know how much of a treasure you both can carry together. Weddings for me are a spectacular search for real memories!
This is so much more than a typical wedding film.
*********************************
I started my filmmaking career in Mexico, where I learned everything I could about the industry and all the techniques involved in production, storytelling and scriptwriting. Then I decided to go abroad and complete my studies in Cinematography at the University of Cinema and Television of Cuba. That same year, I started a film career at the Centro de Estudios Cinematográficos in Barcelona, Spain. Most of my days were surrounded by deep conversations and long days of shoots with students from Spain, Israel and Colombia.
